This is a brand new international school opening in September 2021 in Chengdu, China. It will be the flagship international branch of an elite British school and there are plans to open another 5 schools over the next 9 years. Their ethos is strongly linked to that of their London school and they will be a highly academic school offering a bilingual education to around 2000 Chinese and foreign students between the ages of 1 and 18 (Nursery and Kindergarten to pre-university level). The Kindergarten Curriculum will be based on the EYFS and then the Chinese National Curriculum will be offered in Primary Years 1-6. At Secondary level, students will study for IGCSE and A Levels. Boarding facilities are available from age 9 upwards and there is boarding for all from the age of 12. The school will be brand new, purpose built and offering state of the art facilities and resources.
They are looking for an experienced Secondary Physics Teacher to join them in August 2021. Candidates should have outstanding subject knowledge, and a bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant subject area, a formal teaching qualification, such as PGCE or the equivalent approved by the authoritative department of education, a high level of English proficiency with outstanding written and spoken English, and teaching experience in IGCSE and A-Level (they will also consider relevant teaching experience with CAIE lower secondary / IB MYP). Candidates must have a commitment to continuing professional development as a reflective practitioner, a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of pupils, a firm belief in the ethos of the school and its defining pedagogy and willingness to embrace the opportunity to contribute to the development of a new school and its community. All candidates should be open and flexible team players with experience in leading and managing a group. Ideally they should also have extensive experience in leading Biology department in the daily operation of the schools, an understanding of the China National Curriculum with extensive experience in working with bilingual teachers, subject curriculum development background in the integrated system and the ability to work with other subject heads (or coordinators) in interdisciplinary curriculum development.
