We are looking for a music teacher who is passionate and enthusiastic about promoting music to all students, somebody who wants to inspire every student to play, sing, perform, and enjoy music. We are looking for someone willing to go above and beyond to build a music culture within the school that is exciting and energizing. This includes designing and delivering an exceptional IGCSE and A-Level Music programme and also leading significant co-curricular programmes and events across a wide range of styles and genres. The post holder will also actively contribute to our annual school musical and encourage musical performances as part of the school's Performance Corner activities.
The arts is a key area of the school growth plan and they have already seen a significant increase in both academic and extra-curricular participation within the Performing Arts over the past few years; they would therefore actively enable the postholder in taking this to the next level. Further to this, as a member of a family of schools, there are opportunities to collaborate within a thriving network on events such as the Worldwise Festival of Music and the China-wide ISCMS festival.
The position of Head of Performing Arts, which includes leadership of both the Music and Drama departments, may be available for the right candidate.
Applicants should have the following education, skills and experience:
- Graduate qualified teacher
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant subject area
- Master’s degree an advantage
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in the area for which you are applying
- Successful experience in working with students in the age group you are teaching
- Demonstrated experience in inspiring students in a stimulating learning environment
- Demonstrated experience of using ICT to promote learning
- Previous experience in an international school and familiarity with British education system preferred
- Experience in teaching EAL students preferred
- Ability to analyse student data to support student achievement
- Demonstrated experience in raising achievement and setting challenging targets
- Strong commitment to supporting all aspects of our programme, especially through participating actively in extra-curricular activities, meetings, parent engagement, school events, school trips and excursions, performing duties, and contributing to the life of the school community
Opened in 2012, this academically focused senior high school is located in Suzhou Industrial Park and offers a challenging international curriculum based on the IGCSE and A-Level programmes. Designed for students aged 14 to 19 who plan to pursue higher education overseas, the school provides rigorous academic preparation in English and Mathematics as part of its admissions process.
