We are seeking to appoint a qualified Secondary German (First Language) Teacher for a private, non-selective, co-educational, non-faith school for an August 2024 start. German teachers work across the whole secondary department and play an important role in monitoring pupil development. They keep careful track of pupils’ progress and maintain regular dialogue with parents. First language learners follow the local curriculum for German. All pupils take IGCSE examinations in German as a first or second language. German is taught at all levels within the IB Diploma.

The successful applicant will be a dynamic teacher with experience of enabling pupils to achieve their potential. The school are looking for a balance between experience, enthusiasm and a passion for teaching that will inspire pupils. Fluency in English and familiarity with the English National Curriculum are a prerequisite. A strong desire to contribute to the rich extra-curricular life of the department is also an advantage.Given the growing and developing nature of the school, flexibility and the desire to support other team members is a essential. Candidates should hold a degree in education (e.g. B.Ed./M.Ed./Lehramt), or postgraduate teaching certificate (e.g. PGCE). English language teaching certificates (e.g. TEFL/IELTS/CELTA) are not sufficient. The school look for dynamic teachers with experience of enabling children and young adults to achieve their potential. Familiarity with the British education system and experience of teaching the IB Diploma is highly desirable as is previous international experience and an understanding of the demands associated with private education. The school was founded in 2013 and currently has approximately 600 pupils, aged from 3-18. The curriculum is based on the English National Curriculum, and in Upper School students prepare for IGCSE examinations in 8-10 subjects. The school is IB accredited, and Sixth Form students, aged 16-18, work towards the International Baccalaureate Diploma. At both IGCSE and IB level, students have a broad range of options to suit their interests and aspirations. Following graduation, the majority of students opt to continue their education at some of the best local, national and international universities. The school also provides a broad range of learning opportunities beyond the classroom and a range of extra curricular activities.

The school pays a competitive salary based on experience and teaching salaries range from €37,000 to €56,000 gross per annum. Social security contributions include health, pension, unemployment and disability insurance. These are deducted directly from your salary, and are supplemented by a contribution from the school as your employer. First contracts are typically for two years, with a six
month probationary period. Permanent contracts are issued following this period, based on mutual agreement between both parties. There is a relocation allowance of €1500 gross to support the move to Germany. The school will provide guidance and support in finding housing, as well as support in making your first steps living in Germany.
