Regional Info:
Kyiv (formerly known as Kiev) is the capital of the Ukraine and situated along the Dnieper River in the north central part of the country. Kyiv is one of the oldest cities in Eastern Europe and is Ukraine's wealthiest and largest city (current population around 3 million), boasting high-tech industry, higher education institutions and teeming with history and culture. With its long, 1500 year, history, Kyiv displays a fascinating mix of architecture from modern buildings to ancient ruins - and scores of theatres, museums and religious sites. Moving away from its Soviet past, the city is now emerging as a hip cultural centre with craft breweries, coffee shops, cafe terraces, pubs and clubs, cosmopolitan bars and lounges, shopping malls, markets, street art, green parks and a new vision. Kyiv experiences four distinct seasons with very cold winter months in December, January and February (fortunately there are 181 kms of ski slopes in the Ukraine!) and warm summer months in June, July and August (the perfect time to head to the South of Ukraine to enjoy the popular resort towns and beaches). Kyiv is served by two international airports on the outskirts of the city. Flights to the UK take less than 4 hours. One of the campuses is in the city of Dnipro - the 4th largest city in Ukraine (with a population of around 1 million), also on the Dnieper River, 391 kms southeast of Kyiv. Dnipro is a lively, dynamic city, famous for its history, beautiful architecture and green parks. Best Places to Visit in Kyiv, Ukraine - Travel Guide Kyiv Travel & City Guide Dnipro, Ukraine 2020
