Regional Info:
Unlike Dubai which is well known internationally thanks to a slick marketing campaign, Bahrain has long been the weekend holiday destination for expats and locals wanting to cut loose after a hard week’s work with a pocket full of tax free dollars. Connected to Saudi Arabia by a causeway, to Qatar by land and to the rest of the gulf by cheap Fly Dubai and Kuwait Air flights, Bahrain boasts a vibrant nightlife set amidst a more laid back brand of tourism. With palm trees and greenery on every corner, Bahrain presents more like a mix of Florida and Dubai without the frenetic pace and exorbitant price tag. With living costs over 30% cheaper than Dubai and a more compact expat population many feel it’s an easier place to live and work. Yes it has all the bars, pubs, clubs, beaches and extra-curricular activities of Dubai, minus the indoor skiing, but on a slightly smaller scale and spread across an island network linked by bridges. Salaries tend to be lower in Bahrain, in line with the lower cost of living, and the children tend to be more multinational, multicultural and well behave than in similar schools in the neighbouring UAE. It’s safe and secure, and has a more laid-back beachy kind of vibe which is welcoming and happy with a ‘live and let live’ attitude that suits expats down to a Tee.

The positives are: •awesome initial accommodation set up by the school (apartment with gym, pool, internet) •the level of assistance from HR has been good (airport lifts, assistance completing paperwork, bank account setup, medicals etc) •innovative staff from all over the world. They are helpful and inclusive. The school has a 'family feel'. •The students are varied, interesting, again from all over the world. Like the staff, they are friendly, accepting and generally quite positive
