This private, non-selective, co-educational, non-faith day and boarding school is looking for a Secondary Business and Economics Teacher to join them in August 2024.

Candidates should hold a degree in education (e.g. B.Ed./M.Ed./Lehramt), or postgraduate teaching certificate (e.g. PGCE). English language teaching certificates (e.g. TEFL/IELTS/CELTA) are not sufficient. The school look for dynamic teachers with experience of enabling children and young adults to achieve their potential. Familiarity with the British education system and experience of teaching the IB Diploma is highly desirable as is previous international experience and an understanding of the demands associated with private education. The school is a thriving community of approximately 650 pupils, aged from 2-18 from a broad range of nationalities. From Year 1 to Year 9, they follow the National Curriculum for England, Wales and Northern Ireland. In Year 10 and 11, pupils complete International GCSEs, which are offered by Cambridge International Examinations. In Year 12 and 13, students study towards the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. There are a maximum of 20 pupils in each class, with an average class size of around 15 pupils. Optional subjects in older year groups may also have significantly smaller class sizes.

This campus is one of a group of three schools with other schools in Cologne and Munich. There are opportunities for professional development and growth across the school group. The school is set on a new, purpose built campus in the heart of Germany’s Rhine-Ruhr region, St. George’s School enjoys direct transport links to the cities of Düsseldorf and Duisburg, as well as to the greater Rhine-Ruhr area.

Teachers are paid a competitive salary based on experience and teaching salaries range from €35,000 to €52,000 gross per annum. Social security contributions include health, pension, unemployment and disability insurance. These are deducted directly from your salary, and are supplemented by a contribution from the school as your employer. First contracts are typically for two years, with a six
month probationary period. Permanent contracts are issued following this period, based on mutual agreement between both parties. There is a relocation allowance of €1500 gross to support the move to Germany. The school will provide guidance and support in finding housing, as well as support in making your first steps living in Germany.
