Assistant Heads play a vital role in guiding the academic direction and promoting the holistic development of students, ensuring they are well-rounded and prepared for the future. While each Assistant Head holds a distinct area of focus and set of responsibilities, they also collaborate closely with colleagues across the Senior Management Team (SMT), contributing to strategic planning and supporting campus-wide initiatives. Candidate Profile
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
* A bachelor’s degree along with a recognised teaching qualification (such as a PGCE) is required. Additional qualifications such as a master’s degree or leadership certification (e.g., NPQ) are highly regarded.
Subject Relevance:
* Any academic field aligned with the senior school curriculum will be considered.
Language Proficiency:
* Proficient spoken and written English is essential. Knowledge of Mandarin Chinese is a desirable asset.
Professional Experience:
* A minimum of six years’ experience in high-performing schools.
* At least two years in a leadership role.
* Demonstrable success in leading IGCSE/GCSE programmes is essential.
Professional Expertise:
* Strong understanding of secondary education systems, including curriculum planning and professional development for staff.
* Familiarity with, or interest in, English as an Additional Language (EAL) pedagogical approaches.
* Proven ability to lead staff training and foster ongoing professional growth.
Preferred Skills and Attributes:
* Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across cultures and with diverse stakeholders.
* Collaborative and adaptable, with a proactive and flexible approach to team dynamics.
* Demonstrated dedication to achieving high standards and continuous improvement.
* Exposure to or experience with international education best practices.
