The school opened in 2008 and offers a first-class education for about 760 pupils between the ages of 3 and 18. They follow the UK curriculum leading to IGCSEs and then A Level examinations. There is also an extensive ECA programme. All teaching is in English and the majority of the teachers are from the UK though there is a strong emphasis on the Kazakhstani culture, history and language. The school is well-resourced with excellent facilities, class sizes are small and SEN support is available. They also offer a wide range of ECAs and CPD. Classrooms have interactive whiteboards; they have 3 ICT suites and the school is superbly resourced, e.g. Drama Studio, all-weather astroturf pitch, 25m indoor swimming pool, award-winning school building, stunningly beautiful location.

The campus is set in a beautiful, natural parkland site, along the banks of the Esentai River, with the imposing backdrop of the Tien Shan Mountains, near the Sunkar International Ski Jumping Complex. Regional Info:
Living and working in Almaty, Kazakhstan as an expat teacher can be a highly rewarding experience, both professionally and personally. The city offers a growing international education sector with strong demand for A Level, IGCSE, and IB programs. Many international schools provide competitive employment packages that include housing, flights, medical insurance, and support with relocation, making the transition smooth and financially viable. Almaty itself is a vibrant, scenic city nestled near the mountains, offering easy access to hiking, skiing, and outdoor leisure activities, while also providing a good balance of modern amenities, cultural attractions, and green spaces. The cost of living is relatively affordable compared to major international cities, and essentials such as food, transport, and services are accessible and budget-friendly. Expat teachers often find a welcoming and growing international community, with opportunities to build strong connections with colleagues, families, and the wider local network. While the language barrier can be a challenge—since Russian and Kazakh are predominantly spoken—most schools offer support in navigating daily life. The winter months can bring colder weather and occasional air quality issues, but well-located and insulated housing can make a big difference. The city's rich blend of Central Asian culture, outdoor lifestyle, and developing education landscape creates a unique environment for teachers who are looking for impact, adventure, and professional growth. Overall, Almaty presents a dynamic and fulfilling opportunity for educators ready to embrace an exciting international posting.
