Regional Info:
Bishkek is the capital and largest city of Kyrgyzstan, bordering Kazakhstan, and serves as the country’s cultural and financial hub. Set against the spectacular backdrop of the Tian Shan mountains, it offers an attractive blend of natural beauty, history, and modern life. Since Kyrgyzstan gained independence from the Soviet Union in 1991, Bishkek has evolved from a largely Russian-populated city to a diverse, predominantly Kyrgyz one, though it still retains much of its Soviet charm in its architecture, gardens, museums, bazaars, and churches. Today, Bishkek is a modern, welcoming, and affordable place to live and work, known for its friendly atmosphere, vibrant café and restaurant scene, and safe, relaxed pace of life. Expats appreciate the warm community, low cost of living, and the remarkable access to outdoor adventure - hiking, skiing, and mountain escapes are just minutes away. With hot, sunny summers averaging around 30°C and crisp, cold winters that dip below zero, Bishkek offers a dynamic and rewarding lifestyle that balances comfort, culture, and nature.
