CIA FIRST is seeking an outstanding academic leader to guide the next phase of educational excellence across its campuses. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Chief Learning Officer will lead the organisation’s academic strategy, ensuring exceptional teaching, innovative learning, and strong student outcomes in an increasingly dynamic global education environment.
About the Role
The Chief Learning Officer serves as the senior executive responsible for academic strategy, curriculum development, and overall learning quality across the organisation. The successful candidate will shape the academic vision, strengthen teaching practice, and ensure that learning programmes remain rigorous, innovative, and future-focused.
Working closely with Principals and senior leadership teams, the Chief Learning Officer will foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and academic excellence across all campuses.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Academic Leadership
•Develop and lead a shared vision for academic excellence aligned with CIA FIRST’s mission and values.
•Ensure curriculum coherence and consistent academic standards across all schools and divisions.
•Promote collaboration between campuses and departments to strengthen alignment and accountability.
•Oversee WASC accreditation, internal quality assurance processes, and academic benchmarking.
Digital Strategy and Innovation
•Lead the development of a forward-thinking digital learning strategy that integrates technology, coding, and design thinking into the curriculum.
•Expand online and blended learning capabilities to enhance flexibility and future readiness.
•Work closely with leadership teams to ensure infrastructure and technology support the school’s digital vision.
•Monitor emerging educational technologies and guide their effective classroom implementation.
Teaching, Learning and Curriculum Excellence
•Provide strong pedagogical leadership and support teachers as reflective, research-informed practitioners.
•Promote inquiry-based teaching approaches that challenge and inspire students.
•Oversee curriculum development, assessment cycles, MAP implementation, and data-informed improvement.
•Lead inclusive education practices, ensuring effective provision for EAL, learning support, counselling, and student wellbeing.
Operational Leadership and Capacity Building
•Develop leadership capacity among Heads of School through coaching, performance management, and strategic goal setting.
•Lead Professional Learning Communities to strengthen collaboration and professional growth.
•Partner with HR to recruit, develop, and retain outstanding educators.
•Manage academic budgets and monitor progress against key performance indicators.
Candidate Profile
•Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in international education, including experience as a Principal or senior academic leader.
•Strong experience with the US curriculum, ideally complemented by IB experience.
•Demonstrated success in curriculum leadership, digital learning strategy, and teaching innovation.
•Proven ability in strategic planning, change management, and organisational leadership.
•Strong knowledge of WASC accreditation, international curricula, and inclusive education frameworks.
•Master’s degree or Doctorate in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or Educational Leadership.

Achievement of WASC accreditation milestones.
•Strong teacher performance, development, and retention.
